Ovation TV Taps John Malkin to Head Cross-Platform Content Strategy

Arts-focused network Ovation TV announced today that it has appointed John Malkin to EVP of content distribution for both its linear TV and digital platforms.


Malkin replaces Brad Samuels, who recently joined Bloomberg TV.  Malkin will report to Ovation CEO Charles Segars, and Ovation’s SVP of content distribution and partnerships Mike Pons and VP of Affiliate Marketing Randy Rovegno will report to Malkin.


“John joins our network at a pivotal time in our industry, as well as in Ovation’s evolution,” said Segars in a statement. “While being an independent network comes with its challenges, it also affords us the opportunity to move quickly, try new strategies and reach out to our passionate, arts-loving community to create new, exciting ways to develop and distribute content.”


Malkin comes to Ovation from the NFL Network, where he was VP of affiliate distribution, managing key components of the NFL’s television networks, NFLN and NFL RedZone, including affiliate sales, TV Everywhere and content distribution on both linear and OTT platforms.


Earlier, Malkin held positions at Fox News, where, as VP of affiliate marketing and local sales, he oversaw the marketing of Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network across affiliate and consumer platforms. He has also done stints at E! Entertainment Television, MTV Networks, and Times Mirror Magazines.


The news of Malkin’s hire comes as Ovation prepares to unveil the half-hour, cross-platform special “Holiday Entertaining with Kin Community.” Produced in collaboration with multi-channel network Kin Community, it will premiere on Ovation TV tonight at 10 p.m. ET and be available in various formats on YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter. Following its U.S. premiere, it will air in Canada on Corus Entertainment’s women’s channels, including W Network and CosmoTV.

We are looking for a Senior Marketing Manager / Marketing Director with a solid background in digital and e-mail marketing to join a fast growing B2C events and SAAS company operating within the financial training sector.


You will ideally be from a related events / seminars / conferences industry yourself with a demonstrable record of delivering on attendance targets, but if your skill set is a match this is by no means essential!


This role will focus on lead generation, demand generation and acquisition. You will be creating new business opportunities through digital marketing channels, with a large proportion of your time devoted to eCRM.


A proven background in e-mail marketing, coupled with line management skills, is therefore an absolute must.


As the Head of Marketing, you will be expected to inspire and lead your own team, manage budgets / KPIs and create integrated marketing strategies aimed at boosting registration numbers. You will also be optimising the current outreach activity; inclusive of PPC, SEO, affiliates and social media.


You will be ensuring your team achieve performance objectives and will have strategic and hands-on responsibility for the creation, execution and reporting of email marketing campaigns.


You will be setting up targeted / segmented lists for personalised e-mail activity and ensuring their browser compatibility and QA; managing the complete in-house production process from start to finish and following up with optimisation and insights.


This role may equally suit a Head of CRM / Head of E-mail Marketing with some wider digital marketing expertise.


Salary is commensurate with  experience.

In a move to strengthen its growing digital operations, Iksula has roped in Sayan Banerjee to lead its Digital Marketing  Solutions business.


In his new role at Iksula, Banerjee will look at providing Digital Marketing Solutions to the clients hiring eRetail services from the Iksula Group. He will be reporting to Samarjeet Singh, CEO and Co-Founder, Iksula. Prior to joining Iksula, Banerjee was with iProspect where he led Business Development and Client Relationships.

Due to a number of recent big client wins the business is looking for a Head of Operations to join the business and manage all internal teams, optimising their performance as well as investigate new technology that can improve the business processes.


Responsibilities include:
• Build and maintain business systems and processes for the Operations team to ensure campaign performance and deliverables for all clients.
• Manage execution to deliver on Biddable Media targets, actions and deliverables.
• Multi channel strategy incl. Google, Facebook media spend, account and campaign structure, targeting and creative/messaging.
• Detailed reporting & campaign data summary.

Successful candidate should possess the following credentials:


• 7+ years biddable media experience with a sound understanding of Search, Social Marketing, Programmatic, Affiliate marketing.
• Strong experience managing teams across multiple accounts with various integration across performance media.
• Good knowledge of agency operation systems and ability to streamline/improve the performance of functioning teams.
• Experience setting team KPI’s and increasing performance through up skilling individuals.
• Have experience in Client Services and Campaign strategy.
• Experience in building team and company culture.
• Strong knowledge of ad-tech available on the APAC market.
